Beadboard Panels 1000mm
1000mm High x 390mm Wide (6 pack)
Beadboard wall panelling 1000mm high
Each pack contains 6 panels that are 1000mm high x 390mm wide and cover 2.34 linear metres. Every panel has a lapped halved joint, hidden in the grove to ensure a clean continuous finish. Each board is 9mm thick, moisture resistant MDF and suitable for kitchens and bathrooms where moisture is present in the air, while moisture resistant, the panels are not waterproof and should not be placed in direct contact with water.
Panelshack's beadboard is a solid sheet of 9mm premium grade moisture resistant mdf that replicates the tongued and grooved effect of solid timber sheeting, we cut each sheet into 400mm wide panels and mould the surface creating a single panel that looks like three individual tongued and grooved boards. We use mdf (medium density fibreboard) rather than solid wood or pine sheeting as it's a superior material when applying a painted finish, mdf is free from knots or imperfections that's present in solid timber. Mdf is much more stable than solid wood and is less likely to warp or move, when solid sheeting is painted it moves and tends to cause the paint to crack in the joints, the mdf remains stable, leaving an uninterrupted finish. Each panel is 400mm wide but that includes the rebate or lapped halve joint, so the decoatative surface measures 390mm, when calculating how much material you need on a particular project use the 390mm measurement.
Our beadboard has a spacing of 130mm between the grooves, this is wider than the typical 90mm spacing of standard t&g boards, the wider spacing looks more appealing on long sections and is more akin to the beadboard found in period properties. Beadboard or grooved mdf compliments the look of a traditional home but also enhances the look of a classic contemporary home in conjunction with a more contemporary colour scheme and bold paint colours.
Top mouldings are sold separately.
What is beadboard made from? is it solid wood or timber?
Beadboard or grooved sheeting is made from premium grade moisture resistant mdf (medium density fibreboard), mdf is timber or wood fibres that is bound together under great pressure and high temperature. We use Finsa Hidrofugo for our beadboard, it's a proven high qaulity board with a versatile range of uses in the construction industry.
How do I calculate how much beadboard I need?
Measure along the skirting board or different wall sections in the particular room and add those measurements together to get the total length required, then divide that measurement by 390mm or .39 metres (the width of each panel) and work out how many panels you need. We would advise to add 10% for wastage to the quantity as some panels will be need to be cut in corners and this will result in a small amount of waste, the 750mm high and 1000mm high beadboard comes in a pack of 6 while the 1500mm high panels come in a pack of 5. If you need any help with working out the quantity required please phone us on 0495553141 or drop us an email at info@panelshack.ie
How do I fix the Beadboard panelling to the wall?
To fix the beadboard panels, place wall adhesive on the back of the board and place it to the wall, we recommend using fixings like fine steel pins or nails at the top and bottom using a hammer or nail gun. If it's a solid block wall and you don't have a nail gun, you can just use wall adhesive but use a stronger adhesive or grab adhesive in this case to ensure a good adhesion if you are unable to use fixings. Once the panel is in place, put wood glue on the rebate of the board, this will be covered over by the next panel and not seen, Panelshack's beadboard is 9mm so 15mm fixings would suffice to get a grip in the wall or slab.
